The 4 Days MOUNT MERU CLIMBING TOUR Climb & Hike is the best for acclimatization prior to Mount Kilimanjaro climbing; The Mountain is the third highest peak in Africa and is the second highest mountain in Tanzania at 4,568m. The mountain is located within Arusha National Park, Tanzania’s gem. This prime location gives trekkers the chance to spot some of the wildlife that inhabits the area.
Because MOUNT MERU CLIMBING TOUR is located in Arusha National Park, hikers must climb with an armed ranger due to the wide range of wildlife living on the mountain. On the lower slopes of the mountain, hikers are more likely to see elephants, giraffes, and buffalo! As hikers continue their ascents, the trail follows the north rim of the volcano’s crater along a dramatic ridge line. Throughout the climb, hikers sleep in designated huts along the trail. Hikers reach the summit as the sun is rising and they will have spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and of the Mt. Meru Crater.
An easy 40-minute drive from Arusha. Approximately 60 km (35 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport.     Our one day Meru hike package is designed for guest who have limited time and have no interests of reaching the summit of the second highest Mountain in Tanzania. You are to get soaked to the culture of people living in the up-side of the mountain while viewing the breathe taking greenery and some animals. It all starts from Tengeru Cultural Center 12km's from Arusha Town in the slopes of the mountain. MOUNT MERU CLIMBING TOUR one day trekking lasts for seven hours you will cover 18kms going up and down. Even just hiking and camping on the slopes or visiting the ash cone in the much lower crater are walking safaris that I can warmly recommend. You will be amazed by the amount of wildlife you can find on this mountain, the vegetation is stunning all the way, and Meru simply isn't as overrun as Kilimanjaro is.     08:00hrs An after breakfast drive to Tengeru Cultural Center. Upon arrival you will enjoy a fresh cup of herbal tea while having a briefing from your guide about the day hike. 9:00hrs The hiking starts. You will follow the tropical trails under banana canopy while listening to some brilliant legendary stories about Meru from your guide. The majority of the hike is more like walking up a steep hill by passing farms and village houses. 12:00hrs The hike definately steers up your appetite this is why we'd stop at a comfortable spot for lunch. 13:00hrs After lunch the hiking continues for an hour and we'd reach the Meru falls. The altitude here is 22000meters The falls are gigantic and refreshing. You may take a dip. We reach the summit (4,566 m) for sunrise there is a possibility to see Kilimanjaro Peak above the clouds. The final part of the climb is along a spectacular narrow ridgeline between the sheer inner cliffs and the sloping outer wall of the crater. We take a short rest and brunch at Saddle Hut before continuing the descent to the Momella gate.     We take a short and fast descent way through open grassland and mixed forest, with a possibility of seeing wildlife before reaching Momella Gate in the late morning. The returning transfer will be waiting at Momella Gate to pick you to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi. After a long rest and breakfast, we will begin our final descent to Momella gate.
